POLISHED PERFORMANCES AT EISTEDDFOD!
The adjudicator and the Chairman of the Alberton Eisteddfod, both praised all the learners from Calvary Christian College, who participated in various categories at the event this year. A total of 245 of Calvary’s learners took part in nine sections.
A gold certificate is awarded for scores between 80% - 89% while a diplomas awarded for marks of 90% and higher. Calvary achieved the following results:
Gold in the following categories: • Spreekkoor grades 4/5 and 6/7 • Choral verse grades 4/5 and 6/7 • Solo Art Song: Lesedi Morudi • Gospel Vocal Choir
Diploma’s in the following categories: • Choral verse grade 1 – 3 • Section winners in dramatised choral verse, grade 8/9 • And section winners of the choral verse, grades 10/11
This is a major achievement for Calvary Christian College, particularly in the Spreekkoor section because, for many of the learners, Afrikaans is not their mother tongue.
The two groups that were winners in the dramatized choral verse for grades 8/9 and grades 10/11 were invited to the Gala evening. The learners and their coaches put in many hours of practice and as the saying goes, “Practice makes perfect.”
